Open-world and RPG games on PC: Steam, GOG and Xbox keys, Steam gifts
Role-playing games and open worlds are built on freedom: a large world, a hero you level up, branching stories and dozens of hours in a single run. On a marketplace these games sell in several formats, and the format matters before you pay. A licensed key you redeem yourself — on Steam, on GOG or on an Xbox console. A Steam gift works differently: the game arrives on your account from a bot, and the purchase flow is its own thing; the mechanics are covered in detail in our guide on accepting a Steam gift. Below are eight games grouped by type, with the platform, edition, format and region noted from each listing.
The Witcher saga
CD Projekt RED’s role-playing trilogy follows the witcher Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter for hire. On the storefront this is three offers, and they differ by both platform and format.
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition is the second game, where three intertwining storylines lead to several endings. Per the listing it is a licensed key for the GOG platform (not Steam), with worldwide activation including Russia and CIS; the key appears in your browser and is copied by e-mail. A GOG account is needed.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Complete Edition (Steam gift) is the finale of the saga, an open world plus both story expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Per the listing it is a Steam gift, not a key: a bot adds you as a friend and sends the game to your account around the clock; the region (RU/BY/KZ/UA and others) is chosen in the options.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Complete Edition (Xbox key) is the same Complete Edition with both expansions, but as an Xbox key for Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles. The activation code is e-mailed right after payment, and the region comes with the key.
The difference between the two Witcher 3 offers is simple: the Steam gift adds the game to your Steam library via a bot (how to accept it is in our guide on software from Steam), while the Xbox key activates from a code on the console. Choose by the platform you play on.
Shooter RPGs and open world
Games where role-playing elements — leveling, choice, loot — meet the combat system of a shooter or action game.
Cyberpunk 2077 + Phantom Liberty (Steam gift) by CD Projekt RED is an action RPG in open-world Night City; the Phantom Liberty expansion adds a spy-thriller storyline. Per the listing it is a Steam gift. Mind the region limits: the Phantom Liberty expansion suits Russia, Belarus and CIS accounts, while the base game and the game-plus-DLC bundle suit CIS accounts only.
BioShock 2 (Steam key) is the “thinking person’s shooter” set in the undersea city of Rapture: you play the first Big Daddy, prototype Delta. Per the listing it is a Steam key with one activation; the seller does not list regional restrictions, so it is worth confirming the activation terms for your region before paying.
BioShock 2 + Remastered + Minerva’s Den (Steam key) is the same sequel, but the bundle is wider: the key adds BioShock 2, the Remastered version and the Minerva’s Den add-on with its own standalone story. Per the listing it is a Steam key that activates in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, other CIS countries and the Baltic states.
Borderlands 4 is Gearbox’s co-op looter-shooter with a new planet, Vault Hunters and mountains of loot. Per the listing it is a Steam key with automatic delivery; it activates on Russian accounts. Tactics
XCOM 2 by Firaxis is a turn-based tactical strategy and the sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown: aliens rule the Earth and the XCOM underground sparks a rebellion. Per the listing it is a Steam key that activates in Russia, Ukraine and CIS; the key appears in your browser and by e-mail right after payment.

What to check before paying
- Platform and format. Tell apart a Steam key, a GOG key, an Xbox key and a Steam gift. The Witcher 2 is a GOG key and needs a GOG account, not Steam. The Witcher 3 has two offers: a Steam gift (delivered via a bot) and an Xbox key (a code by e-mail for the console). Cyberpunk 2077 is a Steam gift. - Region — a neutral restriction of the item. For some offers activation is tied to a region: BioShock 2 + Remastered and XCOM 2 in Russia and CIS, Borderlands 4 in Russia and worldwide, the Witcher 2 worldwide. For Cyberpunk 2077 the base game goes only to CIS accounts, while the DLC goes to Russia, Belarus and CIS. For the plain BioShock 2 the seller states no region. Match your account country in settings against the offer’s region before paying.
- Edition and contents. Borderlands 4 offers three editions (Standard / Deluxe / Super Deluxe), the Witcher 3 is the Complete Edition with both expansions, the BioShock 2 bundle adds the Remastered version and Minerva’s Den, and Cyberpunk 2077 comes as the game, the DLC or a bundle.
