Microsoft Project and Visio are two Office applications that don’t come with the usual Word/Excel bundle and are bought separately. Project is a project-management tool: work plans, Gantt charts, resources and deadlines. Visio is a diagramming editor: flowcharts, org charts, network and technical drawings. On the marketplace these programs are sold as activation keys rather than a subscription — let’s look at how the editions and versions differ and how the offers are grouped.

What these programs are, and what a key is

An activation key is a licence code that you enter yourself during installation or attach to your Microsoft account. Unlike a Microsoft 365 subscription, this is a one-time purchase and the program version is fixed (2019, 2021, 2024 and so on). Per the seller descriptions, activation happens on your own Microsoft account, so you usually don’t need to hand a login and password to anyone.

The difference between Pro and Standard is scope. Project Professional adds resource management, team collaboration and task sync; Visio Professional adds richer shape sets and templates for engineering, network and business diagrams. The Standard editions cover the basics: plans and simple diagrams without the advanced tools.

Purchase formats in the catalogue

Offers differ in which versions and editions they bundle inside a single card — you pick the exact variant in the options before paying.

A universal activation key

Microsoft Visio / Project — activation key — an offer with a key for Visio or Project; the edition and version are chosen in the card options. Per the seller, activation is done on your Microsoft account.

Versions 2019–2024, Pro edition

Microsoft Visio / Project 2019-2024 Pro — key — keys for the Professional edition across the 2019–2024 versions. A good fit if you specifically want the recent Pro line with the full feature set.

Microsoft Visio / Project Pro 2024–2016 — activation key — a wider span of Professional versions, including earlier releases. Useful when you need a specific older version for an already-configured setup.

Choosing between Pro and Standard

Microsoft Visio and Project — Pro and Standard keys — here both editions, Professional and Standard, are available in the options. Handy if you’re still deciding whether you need the extended Pro toolset or the basic Standard is enough.

How a one-time activation key differs from a subscription with monthly billing is covered in the guide “Office 365 purchase formats”. And the “pay — send the code — receive the item” flow is explained in “The unique code and the seller chat”.

What to check before paying

  • The program, edition and version in the chosen option. Project vs Visio, Pro vs Standard, the specific release year — these are different variants of one card, so confirm your choice before paying.
  • It’s a key, not a subscription. Payment is one-time and the version is fixed — upgrades to newer releases usually aren’t included in this kind of licence.
  • Activation on a Microsoft account. Per the seller descriptions the key attaches to your account; check the account requirements on the card.
  • Compatibility. Make sure the chosen version suits your operating system.
  • The warranty, refund terms and reviews for the specific offer — they’re described on the card and by the seller.

Bazelio is a storefront: the seller accepts payment on a payment platform and is responsible for delivering the key, activation and support. If something goes wrong, the steps are on the “Refunds and disputes” page, and other software is gathered in the Software category.
