1Password Personal: what to check before buying a one-year activation code
How to decide whether 1Password Personal fits your needs, how an activation code differs from account credentials, and what to check before paying.

A password manager can help when you want to stop reusing passwords and keep logins, payment details and important records in one protected vault. Before paying, however, separate the subscription from access to your account. The catalog listing is a 12-month 1Password Personal activation code; it is not a ready-made account or someone else’s sign-in details.
When 1Password Personal is the right fit
The Individual plan is intended for personal use. According to 1Password’s official plan page, it includes storing and autofilling information, password generation, alerts for weak or compromised credentials, and use across devices. It is an option when one person will own the saved information.
If you need family access or administration for several people, do not treat Personal as a substitute for a different plan just because the names sound similar. First decide who will own the account and who needs access to the vault, then compare the current plan details on 1Password’s site.
What an activation-code listing means
The 1Password Personal listing states that it provides a code to activate a 12-month subscription. After payment, follow the instructions and use the information supplied by the seller: the activation sequence, account requirements and support are specific to that listing.
Do not confuse that code with a 1Password Secret Key. A Secret Key is created to protect your account and is used when you first sign in on a new device; 1Password’s official support article explicitly says it is neither a license nor a serial number. Do not share your Secret Key or account password where the seller only needs an order code or other information stated in their instructions.
What to check before paying
- The plan. The card names 1Password Personal, not a family or business plan.
- The term. Confirm that a 12-month subscription fits your needs, and do not assume renewal conditions in advance.
- The delivery format. Make sure you need an activation code, rather than a ready-made account or a setup service.
- Your account and devices. Confirm that you can install the app or browser extension on the devices you need and use your own email address for the account.
- Seller terms. Before paying, read the delivery process, instructions, restrictions and support terms on the checkout page. Bazelio does not set them.
What to do after activation
First sign in to 1Password only on your own devices and create a unique account password. Keep your Secret Key or Setup Code in a secure place: 1Password explains that you will need it when first signing in on a new device, and that it is available in the Emergency Kit or on a device where you are already signed in.
For an individual account, you may also consider creating a recovery code. As 1Password’s documentation explains, it can help restore access, but you still need access to the account email address. Do not send this code, your account password or your Secret Key to a seller, and do not keep them in an open chat.
If the code is not delivered, does not match the listing or its use is unclear, contact the seller through the payment platform first.
