Ahrefs, Semrush and Screaming Frog: how marketplace access to SEO tools works

Published: Updated: 5 min read

Ahrefs and Semrush are the two staple tools of SEO work: site audits, keyword research, backlink and competitor analysis. Both are subscription platforms, and a month of direct access is a noticeable expense — especially when you only need the tool for a one-off project. Marketplaces sell the same services as monthly access — through a shared account and a seller’s panel — while the Screaming Frog desktop crawler is sold as a classic license key. Here is how that works in three specific offers.

Ahrefs: credit packs and panel-based sign-in

Ahrefs — 1-month access gives you Ahrefs tools for 30 days from the purchase date. The limit is measured in credits: at checkout you choose a pack of 300, 1200 or 3500 credits, each query (keyword, link, website) consumes 1 credit, and repeating a query within 6 hours is not charged again. Sign-in goes through the seller’s panel: the seller sends the address and opens access once you share your username. Everything runs in the browser (Chrome recommended) with no extensions to install. You can sign in from different devices, but only one user can work in the account at a time; there are no refunds after delivery.

Semrush Guru + Trends — 1-month access is a shared account on the Guru plan (keyword research, site audit, competitor analysis) with the Trends add-on for traffic and market analysis. Sign-in also goes through the seller’s panel — with an account number and password. After payment you receive a 16-digit code to send to the seller; how that mechanic works is covered in “The unique code and seller chat”. Delivery takes 15–60 minutes (up to 12 hours), and the seller works 05:00–19:00 Moscow time. One important condition from the listing: exporting data from the account is not available.

Screaming Frog: a license for the desktop crawler

Screaming Frog SEO Spider is a desktop tool for technical SEO audits: the crawler scans a site’s pages, links, images and meta tags and surfaces issues. Unlike Ahrefs and Semrush, this is not a cloud service behind a panel but a classic license for a program on your own computer.

The Screaming Frog SEO Spider — license key is issued instantly after payment and is valid until 14 December 2026 for version 19.8 — keep that in mind before updating the app. The key removes the free version’s 500 URL limit and unlocks the paid crawler features: saving crawls, crawl configuration, integrations. You download the installer from the developer’s site (screamingfrog.co.uk) and enter the key via Licence → Enter Licence; per the seller’s terms, the key must be activated within 14 days of purchase.

What panel access and a shared account actually mean

Neither the Ahrefs nor the Semrush offer is a personal subscription on your own profile. The seller’s panel is a browser layer between you and the service: you work in the web interface but don’t control the account itself, and you accept its limitations — in Ahrefs you can’t work in parallel with another user, in Semrush report exports are unavailable. A shared account means the limits are used by several buyers. For one-off jobs — an audit, keyword collection, competitor research — that is usually enough; for team workflows with report exports the format doesn’t fit. More on access formats in “Shared account, personal account or key”.

What to check before paying

  • Limits versus workload. For Ahrefs, estimate your number of queries: each consumes 1 credit, repeats within 6 hours are free. For Semrush, make sure you don’t need report exports.
  • Parallel work. Ahrefs allows one user at a time — the format doesn’t suit a team.
  • The term. The 30 days in Ahrefs count from the purchase date, not your first sign-in; no refunds after delivery.
  • The delivery flow. Semrush requires the 16-digit code, and the seller works 05:00–19:00 Moscow time.
  • The Screaming Frog license version and term. The key targets version 19.8 (check compatibility with your operating system), is valid until 14 Dec 2026, and must be activated within 14 days of purchase.
  • Regional availability. The Ahrefs and Semrush listings carry a neutral note that the service may be unavailable in some regions.

Bazelio is a storefront: payment is taken by the seller on the payment platform, and the seller opens access and answers order questions. General selection principles live in “How to choose”, and other work tools are in the Subscriptions category.
