Dropbox on a marketplace: ready account, Plus and Pro subscription, or an 18 GB upgrade
Three ways to buy Dropbox: a ready 3 or 10 TB account, Plus and Pro set up on your own account, and an 18 GB lifetime upgrade — an honest look at the formats.
On this page
Dropbox is sold on marketplaces in three fundamentally different formats — not three variants of one product, but three separate mechanics with different delivery times, risks and requirements for the buyer. One seller hands you a ready-made account with a large quota, another sets up a subscription on your own account, and a third performs a service that permanently expands your free storage. Before paying, it’s worth understanding exactly what happens after payment in each case. Here is an honest breakdown, based on the terms in the product cards.
Format 1: a ready account with 3 or 10 TB for a month
Dropbox 3/10 TB for 1 month — full-access account is an already-created account with a paid plan: you pick 3 TB or 10 TB of storage, and the seller delivers the login and password within 24 hours of payment. This is not instant auto-delivery — a person handles the handover, so allow for the waiting time.
The key feature of this format is a full change of credentials to your own: once you get access, you change the e-mail and password and lock the account down for yourself. Do it right away — how to take over a purchased account properly, and what to change first, is covered in the guide “Account security after purchase”. The plan runs for exactly 30 days from the moment of delivery, and the seller gives a 30-day warranty on the account. Refunds are not offered — within the warranty period only a replacement is possible.
Who it suits: anyone who needs a lot of space for a short stretch — moving an archive, temporarily hosting a backup — without tying the storage to their main e-mail.
Format 2: a Plus or Pro subscription on your own account
Dropbox Plus / Pro — 1–12 month subscription takes the opposite approach: the plan is set up not on someone else’s account but on yours, with all your files and settings in place. The variants are Plus for 1 month, or Pro for 1 or 12 months. After payment the seller activates the subscription manually; delivery takes from a few minutes to a few hours, and a confirmation e-mail from Dropbox arrives once the plan is active. The seller’s warranty covers the whole subscription term.
Let’s be direct: to set the plan up, the seller asks for the e-mail and password of your Dropbox account — the sign-in details are shared in the order chat after payment. That is the standard condition of this format, and the decision to share them is yours. A sensible precaution: set a temporary password before sharing, then change it as soon as the subscription is active — see the guide “Account security after purchase” for how to hand over sign-in details safely.
Requirements from the card: the account must have no active subscription, and it should ideally be registered with an e-mail address rather than via Facebook or iCloud. There is no refund after a successful setup; if the setup fails through the seller’s fault, the payment is returned.
Format 3: a lifetime upgrade to 18 GB through referrals
Dropbox 18 GB — lifetime storage upgrade is not a subscription but a service. The seller expands your existing free account through the Dropbox referral programme: bonus gigabytes are gradually added to the base 2 GB, and the extra space stays for the long term — no monthly payments. There is also an alternative plan: a brand-new account with 21 GB.
The main difference is timing: processing takes roughly 4 to 7 days, or about 1 day on the faster plan. The space is not added instantly — it grows as referrals are confirmed, and for the upgrade you confirm taking part in the referral programme on the payment page. Refunds are not offered; support is on the seller’s terms.
Who it suits: anyone for whom a couple of dozen gigabytes for documents and photos is enough, and who doesn’t want a monthly subscription bill.
Comparing the formats
| Format | What you get | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Ready 3/10 TB account | Login and password for an account on a 1-month plan, full credential change to your own | Lots of space for a short term |
| Plus / Pro on your account | A 1–12 month subscription on your own account with your files | Those already living in Dropbox who want the plan on their account |
| Upgrade to 18 GB | A service: your free account grows via referrals (or a new 21 GB account) | Moderate space with no monthly fee |
What to check before paying
- Delivery times. Up to 24 hours for the ready account; a few minutes to a few hours for the Plus/Pro setup; 4 to 7 days for the 18 GB upgrade (about 1 day on the faster plan). All three are manual work by the seller, not instant auto-delivery.
- Who shares credentials with whom. In format 1 the login and password are given to you; in format 2 you share your own account’s e-mail and password with the seller; in format 3 participation is confirmed through the referral programme. Make sure the mechanics suit you.
- Account requirements. For Plus/Pro — an account with no active subscription, registered with an e-mail address; for the upgrade — a working Dropbox account (or choose the plan with a new 21 GB account).
- Warranty and refunds. In all three formats refunds are not offered or are limited; the seller’s warranty and support apply on the seller’s terms — read the card and buyer reviews before paying.
If you are still choosing between clouds rather than between Dropbox formats, a comparison with Google One (including for files and notes) is in the guide “Google One and Obsidian sync”, and for Apple devices the natural alternative is iCloud+.
Bazelio is a storefront: payment and delivery happen at the seller on the payment platform, and disputes are handled by the platform’s rules. These and other digital services are collected in the Subscriptions category.
