Spotify is a music streaming service with playlists, podcasts and recommendations. On the paid Premium tier there are no ads, plus offline downloads, higher audio quality and features like AI DJ. Premium comes in several plans, and in the catalogue those plans are set up in different ways. Let’s look at how the plans differ and what buying formats exist.
How the plans differ
The plan names reflect how many people the subscription covers:
- Individual — one user, one account.
- Duo — for two people: two separate accounts under one subscription, usually for those living together.
- Family — a family plan for several accounts at one address, up to six members.
- Platinum — a variant that appears in seller cards as an extended offer; check what it includes in the specific listing rather than assuming.
The plan is chosen in the card options, along with the subscription term (usually from 1 to 12 months).
Buying formats in the catalogue
Activation on your own account
Here the subscription is set up on your existing Spotify account — handy if you don’t want to change your familiar library and playlists.
Spotify Premium — Individual, Duo, Family and Platinum and Spotify Premium — Individual, Duo, Family and Platinum gather all four plans in one card — you pick the plan and the term in the options. If you only need the basic plans, there is Spotify Premium — Individual and Duo.
Worth noting separately is Spotify Premium with AI DJ — subscription on your account: per the seller’s description, the setup is on your account with access to the AI DJ feature. A similar format is Spotify Premium for 3 / 6 / 12 months — activation, where the focus is on activating the chosen term.
Adding to an existing plan
Adding 1 account to Spotify Duo / Family / Platinum is not a standalone subscription but a slot in a shared plan that is already running. This format is usually cheaper, but it depends on the plan owner’s terms — check the details in the description and with the seller.
A new account
New Spotify account — choice of region is a ready account with a subscription; the offer for the region you need is chosen in the options. A good fit if you don’t have a Spotify account yet.

What to check before paying
- The plan and term in the chosen option — Individual, Duo, Family or Platinum, and how many months.
- Whose account the subscription goes on: your own, a slot in someone else’s plan, or a new one.
- The delivery order — per the seller’s description: automatic or via the order chat.
- Regional availability of the offer and the buyer reviews on the card.
