Audiobook subscriptions: Audible, LitRes and Storytel — formats compared
Audiobook services run on two different models, and that decides what you get for your money. The credit model (Audible): once a month you receive a credit you “spend” on one book — and it stays in your library forever. The unlimited model (LitRes, Storytel): while the period is active you listen and read from the catalogue without limits, but the books don’t stay once it ends. Below are three services in the catalogue and how they differ by delivery format.
Audible — credits and a US account
Audible Premium Plus is Amazon’s audiobook service: original audiobooks, podcasts, sleep and meditation tracks. Each month a credit is added for a premium book that stays in your library. Per the listing this is a gift card for a US account — credits are delivered as a code without logging in, or a 1–12 month subscription is arranged. There’s also a credit top-up to your own account for 1, 3 or 12 months. The US region is a neutral service condition; check your account region before paying.
LitRes — unlimited via promo code
LitRes is a large Russian-language ebook and audiobook service. A subscription opens the plan’s catalogue of books and audiobooks, the same as in the LitRes app. Every option here is a promo code: after payment you get a code and activate the subscription on your own account in the “Promo code” section.
- 12-month subscription — a year of catalogue access.
- “Max + Exclusive” for 12 months — over 300,000 titles plus a 20% discount on purchases; per the listing, activation is available within Russia.
- 2-month code and 60 days for new users — short plans, for new accounts per the listings.
Storytel — a short window into a big catalogue
Storytel Premium is audio and ebooks — a catalogue of over 500,000 titles per the listing. The offer here is 7 days of access with a personal account and instant delivery — handy to try the service or finish one book within a week.

What to check before paying
- Model. Audible credits = books stay with you; LitRes/Storytel unlimited = access only for the subscription term.
- Region and account type. Audible is a US account; LitRes is a Russian profile; promo codes for new accounts work on new accounts only.
- Catalogue. LitRes and Storytel are strong on Russian-language content, Audible on English; check that the books you want are there.
