Amazon.com or Amazon.de: how to choose a gift card before paying

How Amazon gift cards for the United States and Germany differ, what to check about the storefront and denomination, and why not to buy a code just to test it.

An Amazon gift card is not a universal way to pay on every Amazon storefront. Before paying, choose the exact store first: the catalogue has separate listings for Amazon.com in the United States and Amazon.de in Germany. The storefront name and currency matter more here than the language of the interface.

Choose the storefront first, then the denomination

Select a card for the Amazon storefront where you intend to spend the balance:

If you plan to buy onLook for on the cardDenomination currency
Amazon.comUnited States / US / Amazon.comUSD
Amazon.deGermany / DE / Amazon.deEUR

Do not treat US dollars or euros alone as proof of compatibility. The same currency can appear on different storefronts, and a card for one site does not become a card for another because of the app language, delivery address or browser currency setting.

Amazon states separately that Amazon.de gift cards are for eligible goods and services on the relevant Amazon website, not for paying through Amazon Pay on third-party sites. Check the current restrictions in Amazon Pay’s official help if you plan to use the balance in an unusual payment flow.

What to check in your Amazon account

Open the exact storefront for which you are choosing the card, then check before paying:

  • that you are signed in to your own account, rather than another person’s or a temporary profile;
  • that the browser address is the intended site — amazon.com or amazon.de;
  • that you understand which future purchases you want the balance for;
  • that the cart does not contain an item with separate restrictions;
  • that the seller’s terms in the listing match the code format you selected.

If you are unsure which storefront your account needs, do not purchase a code “just to test it.” A digital code may already be disclosed or redeemed, and any resolution depends on the terms of the individual seller and platform.

Choose a denomination without an unwanted balance

Build your cart on the intended Amazon website first and review the total in that storefront’s currency. Then select a denomination that covers the planned purchase with a balance you are comfortable keeping. Do not use the ruble price shown on Bazelio as an Amazon exchange rate or a promise of final item prices.

The current listings show different denomination sets: US values are in dollars and Germany values are in euros. Open the relevant listing and confirm the available options immediately before checkout, since seller availability and terms can change.

After receiving the code

Use the code only in your own account and follow the instructions on the order page. Do not forward the code, a delivery-page screenshot or sign-in details to anyone else. If a code is not delivered, differs from the listing or returns an error when used, contact the seller through the payment platform first, with the order number and a description of the issue.

For a broader regional-card checklist, see Gift card regions. Browse other offers in Gift Cards. Bazelio is a storefront: payment, code delivery and order support are handled by the seller on an external platform.
