Total War: WARHAMMER III patch 9.0.4 is live

Bazelio editorial

Total War: WARHAMMER III patch 9.0.4 focuses on Nagash’s campaign while addressing stability, battles, interface issues and multiplayer options.

Patch 9.0.4 has been released for Total War: WARHAMMER III. Its main focus is Nagash’s campaign, with changes and fixes for Black Pyramid systems, recruitment, Necromantic Energy, campaign events, and related interface elements.

The update also addresses issues beyond Nagash’s faction. The notes cover stability on later campaign turns, a potential crash during the Nagash End Times crisis, campaign and battle fixes, UI corrections, and a multiplayer lobby setting for hosts.

Campaign, battle and interface fixes

The Black Pyramid search tool has been broadened so it can identify specific unit names inside unit sets as well as text shown when hovering over elements. Several Nagash campaign issues have been resolved, including incorrect fort settlement data after confederation or diplomacy, problems with unlocking units through Grave Call, and cases where Necromantic Energy was not awarded correctly after battles.

Pinnacle of Servitude has been adjusted: its Recruit Rank bonus is now 1, while the effect also applies to units recruited through Grave Call. The trigger time for the Screaming Skull Catapults’ homing effect, granted by a Black Pyramid node, has been reduced from three seconds to two. The Khemri siege map now shows the Black Pyramid of Nagash above the city.

A number of interface details have been corrected. The Grave Call Recruitment button is now greyed out when it cannot be used, with a tooltip stating that it is available only in the Land of the Dead. The patch also fixes sigil panel positioning, incorrect effect icons, missing tooltip details, mission-panel issues, and several text display problems.

For multiplayer campaigns, Nagash buildings tied to the subjugation of Neferata or Walach should unlock when either character starts under, or becomes controlled by, a co-op partner. The lobby host can now view and adjust the AI Anti-Player Bias slider.

Outside the Nagash content, patch 9.0.4 fixes campaign progression and confederation-related issues, selected spell and ability behavior, and visual effects. Two notes apply only to new campaigns: the port building issue at the Altar of the Horned Rat, and some Lords losing mount access after confederation.

What this means before you play

For players running a Nagash campaign, the update is particularly relevant to recurring systems such as the Black Pyramid, resource gains, recruitment, mission information, and settlement management. The stability fixes may also matter in longer campaigns, though their effect can vary depending on a save file and any installed mods.

If issues appear after updating, the developers advise verifying the game files first. They also note that community-made mods can be incompatible with a new version; disabling mods is recommended when investigating performance or stability problems.

The team also intends to release patch 9.0.5 in the coming weeks, with additional fixes and adjustments, including planned work on Victory Objectives.
