McAfee by key: Internet Security or LiveSafe — which to choose
How McAfee Internet Security differs from LiveSafe, how the 25-character activation key works and what to check before buying — the catalog offers explained.
On this page
McAfee on a marketplace is sold as an activation key: you pay, receive a license code, enter it on the McAfee activation page and download the program. The main fork when choosing is between two products: Internet Security, licensed for a specific number of computers, and LiveSafe, licensed per user. Let’s look at how they differ and what to check in the catalog cards.
What a McAfee key is and how it activates
A McAfee key is a 25-character license code. In the catalog offers it is delivered automatically right after payment: the code appears in the browser window and is duplicated by e-mail. You then activate it yourself on the McAfee activation page, download the installer and set up the protection.
Two things are common to McAfee keys. First, the license term starts counting from the moment the key is activated, not from the moment of purchase. Second, the sellers warn that the McAfee activation page may be unavailable in some regions — this concerns activation only; if it applies to you, check the exact steps with the seller in the card or in chat.
McAfee Internet Security: a license for 1, 3 or 5 PCs
McAfee Internet Security — 1-year key is an all-round protection suite for a computer: antivirus with cloud analysis, a firewall, control over suspicious websites and tools for safer browsing. The license here is tied to a number of computers, and the variant is picked at checkout: 1, 3 or 5 PCs for 1 year, or 1 PC for 3 years at once. The 3- and 5-PC editions suit a household, while the three-year variant saves you from renewing every year.
The activation page for this offer is available in Russian and English. Before buying, the seller recommends checking the McAfee system requirements for your operating system.
McAfee LiveSafe: a per-user license, not per-device
McAfee LiveSafe — key for 1 year for 1 user works differently: the license covers a single user with no limit on the number of devices. That is the key difference from Internet Security — you don’t have to count computers in advance: one subscription covers one person’s hardware. The product itself is an all-round antivirus protecting from viruses, malicious sites and online threats, with extra tools for privacy and personal data.
The format is the same: a 25-character key arrives instantly after payment, activation is done on the McAfee page, and the one-year term starts from activation. Warranty and support come from the seller on the seller’s terms.
McAfee LiveSafe 2025: an option from another seller
McAfee LiveSafe 2025 — license key is another LiveSafe offer in the catalog, from a different seller. The pack includes real-time protection from viruses, phishing and ransomware, plus a password manager and identity protection. Activation is done with the received code on the McAfee website. Note: the license term and device count for this offer are stated on the seller’s card — confirm them on the payment page before buying.
Comparing the offers
| Offer | Format and term | Key difference |
|---|---|---|
| Internet Security | 1/3/5 PCs for 1 year, or 1 PC for 3 years | Per-PC license; firewall and web protection |
| LiveSafe | 1 user, 1 year, device count not limited | Per-user license; privacy and data tools |
| LiveSafe 2025 | Term and device count — on the seller’s card | Password manager and identity protection |
