Crunchyroll Premium: Fan or Mega Fan, on your account or shared — how the plans work

Published: 4 min read

Crunchyroll is the largest anime and manga streaming service: a huge library of series and simulcasts of new episodes soon after they air in Japan. A Premium subscription means ad-free viewing and the full catalogue. The Bazelio catalogue has several Crunchyroll offers, and they differ in two ways: the tier (Fan or Mega Fan) and the format — set up on your own account, or access to a shared account. Let’s go through what is what.

Fan or Mega Fan: how the tiers differ

According to the seller descriptions, the difference between tiers is this:

  • Fan — ad-free viewing, the full anime catalogue and new simulcast episodes soon after they air in Japan.
  • Mega Fan — everything Fan has, plus offline downloads and viewing on more devices.

If you only watch at home from one device, Fan is usually enough; Mega Fan is for downloads on the go and several screens. Always confirm the exact contents of a tier on the card of the offer you pick.

A subscription on your own Crunchyroll account

In this format the membership is set up on your own Crunchyroll account — you stay the owner, and the seller activates the subscription using the details you provide.

  • Crunchyroll Fan and Mega Fan — subscription for your account — you choose the Fan or Mega Fan tier for 1 or 12 months, and the seller connects the subscription to your account using the details you supply. A good fit if you already have a Crunchyroll profile and want to keep your watch history.
  • Crunchyroll Premium — Fan and Mega Fan — the most flexible offer: the options let you choose the tier (Fan or Mega Fan), the term (1 month or 1 year) and the format — on your account or shared. After payment, per the seller’s description, you send them a unique code in the chat.

Access to a shared account

Here you receive login details (in the form “login : password”) to a ready account with an active subscription. It is cheaper, but the format has limits: usually one profile and one device, with no changing the account details.

How the “pay — send the code — receive details in the chat” flow works is covered in the guide “The unique code and the seller chat”. And how a “shared account” differs from a personal one and from a key is in “Shared account, personal account or key”.

What to check before paying

  • The tier. Whether you need offline downloads and several devices (Mega Fan) or ad-free viewing is enough (Fan).
  • The format. On your account — you own the profile and keep your history; a shared account is cheaper but usually means one profile and one device with no changing the details.
  • The term in the chosen option on the card, and the warranty for that term.
  • The delivery order: which code to send the seller and how quickly the details arrive.
  • The seller’s reviews on the card — real experience of activations with that particular seller.

Bazelio is a storefront: the seller accepts payment on a payment platform and is responsible for activation and support. Other video subscriptions — Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video and Kinopoisk — are gathered in the guide “How video subscriptions are bought on a marketplace”, and all the offers are in the Video & streaming category.
